This session was the perfect mix of nerdy + romantic, playful + intimate, and totally personal to the couple — exactly what I love when photographing engagement sessions here in Colorado!
Part 1: A Romantic Engagement Session at a Denver Bookstore
There’s just something magical about doing an engagement session surrounded by shelves of stories. The smell of paper, the warm lighting, the cozy nooks — it all creates the dreamiest backdrop for couples who love reading, quiet moments, or sharing inside jokes between the pages.
For this session, we explored one of Denver’s favorite bookstores, letting Olivia and Breydon simply be themselves: laughing in the aisles, swapping favorite books, and sneaking sweet moments between the stacks.
We wandered through Mystery & Thrillers, paused for a few stolen kisses in Contemporary Fiction, and I may or may not have encouraged a few playful moments like:
- reading dramatically out loud,
- showing each other their current reads,
- and one very adorable “choose a book for me” moment.
Bookstores make for the perfect engagement session location because they’re:
- calm and cozy,
- filled with color and texture for beautiful photos,
- meaningful for couples who love reading,
- and full of sweet little corners where you forget the camera is even there.
Part 2: A Cozy In-Home Engagement Session
After the bookstore, we headed back to their home for the second half of their engagement session — and oh my gosh, it was chef’s kiss cozy perfection.
Because here’s the thing: your home is the most personal, meaningful setting you could ever choose for photos. It’s the place where you laugh, unwind, build your life, and love each other in the softest, most authentic ways.
And for Olivia & Breydon, it meant:
- snuggles on the couch,
- warm blankets,
- cocktails in the kitchen,
- cuddling with their cats Luci aka Lucifer and Stormy,
- and one absolutely iconic guest star… the Predator plushie.
Yes. Predator. And it was glorious.
Their cats absolutely stole the show — especially one moment where one of the cats posed perfectly in front of them while they kissed in the background. Truly main-character energy.
Afterwards, Breydon mixed their favorite drinks in the kitchen while Olivia wrapped her arms around him, and the entire vibe was soft, relaxed, and completely them.
Then came the giggles, the forehead kisses, the rolling-around cuddles, and all of those little moments that make at-home sessions feel so honest and real.
